I'm actually beginning work on a crossover story with Batman. in general I dislike crossovers, but at my local hobby shop, we've talked about a scenario where Frank Castle enters Gotham from his own universe by nebulous means, and what would happen. I'm kinda going to build a story around that.
But no story can really ever be just about one event, or at least not an interesting story. So I've got it all planned out, but I find myself facing kinda one problem. From the DC side, the most important characters are really Bruce Wayne, Damian Wayne, Dick Grayson, and I may make Barbara Gordon more important. The Punisher himself is a solo operation.
But at the stat, I decided I wanted to really combine a bunch of elements from current DC comics with Nightwing, and mix it with a toned down event in Injustice. Damian and Dick are working together to take down several gangs which were attempting to get to his identity through abducting his currently pregnant girlfriend. It's all pretty standard. Except Damian accidentally knocks Dick off the side of a suspended walkway which he hadn't been expecting, all to get past Dick to take out the last of the baddies, for his own glory more than anything. The fall breaks Dick's back, and causes him to have a head trauma. This is important, as it drives Richard out of the game. He's going through physio, he's getting treatment for a head injury, and he's got a kid on the way. He's done. He's getting out of all of it, he's walking away. That's going to complicate his relationship to Batman of course, but one thing I really wanted to try and understand is more how Damian would immediately react.
He's still a teenager, so I think he'd try to fix things himself at first, but as soon as that didn't work out and his panic boils over, who does he call? Bruce would be the immediate one to come to mind, but I actually don't think he'd want to call Bruce in all honesty. I think his ego would fear the judgement his father would deliver to him. But does he call Alfred? That lead's to Bruce? Does he know Barbara well enough to call her? Because he's not going to let Dick just die, that's something he couldn't go far enough over. So the question becomes, who does he call?
I'm just trying to work it out while I write it, but that is a stumbling block for me.
